Your View: Offering advice for young people

The drug problem is worse than ever in the schools today and there is no education in the public schools addressing it. Our government sends billions of dollars to Mexico to help them with this problem, but surprisingly nothing is spent for educating our young.

I have developed a card that young people can use if they feel they are being pressured by friends to try drugs. It asks them if they driving fast on a smooth freeway, knowing in a few feet they would crash, would they be foolish enough to keep going? The same applies to doing drugs. Hopefully my card can serve as a reminder to them to think before they act and to say no to drugs and alcohol. They are available at the La Jolla Rec Center and Stella Maris Academy.
