Work progresses on Kellogg Park

Share

Kellogg Park’s new look continued to be refreshed Monday morning when installation began for the colorful panels along the playground wall.

And late last week, the lifesize bronze sculpture J.J., the gray whale that was rescued, rehabilitated and returned to the ocean by SeaWorld, floated its way across town.

The foam core, crafted by Gerry Kirk of Sand World International from the design of D. Lynn Reeves, was moved from Kirk’s Del Mar workshop to Reeve’s La Mesa studio where he now will cover the core with clay in preparation for the trip to the foundry.

Friends of La Jolla Shores has raised enough to pay for all the playground equipment, but is still taking donations for J.J. and the seat wall etchings that will tell her story.
