‘What American Means’ to students

Hernandez-Reyes, Lillian Raffetto, Stefan Stojic and Chris Halter were finalists in the La Jolla Sunrise Rotary Club’s ‘What American Means to Me’ essay contest, which drew 120 entries from sixth-graders. At the club’s June 4 breakfast meeting, the students read their speeches to members who then judged the contest. The two third-place finishers were Stefan Stojic and Jessie Hernandes-Reyes. Stefan and Jessie received $25 awards. Second place went to Lillian Raffetto, who won $50, and first place went to Chris Halter, who won $75. Mary McKenney and Mark Heinze attended the breakfast with their students.
