Weekend storm due in on Saturday
A Pacific storm approaching from the northwest was likely to bring rain, mountain snow and gusty winds to San Diego County this weekend, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service estimates up to one inch of rain will fall west of the mountains and up to a half-inch will fall in the deserts Saturday into Sunday.
There will also be a chance of thunderstorms Sunday as the cold air aloft destabilizes the atmosphere, along with a chance of waterspouts and funnel clouds, according to the Weather Service.
The agency said the snow level will lower to near 4,000 feet by Sunday, with local snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches at the higher elevations.
