Boys basketball

La Jolla High School wrapped up its regular season with a 56-48 victory over St. Augustine on Feb. 14, finishing with a 19-8 record and a 10-2 mark in the Western League, good enough for its first league title since the 1988-89 season. Jerrell Agnew led the way with 19 points, and Spencer Moyer added 10. Matt Jones had nine points and six blocks.

The Vikings earned the top seed in the CIF-San Diego Section Division III playoff, and were scheduled to host Castle Park in the first round on Feb. 19.

La Jolla Country Day fell to Horizon Christian, 49-48, on Feb. 13.

The Torreys dropped a 62-51 decision to Francis Parker on Feb. 14. They finished the regular season with a 6-16 record and an 0-8 mark in the Coastal League South. They were scheduled to host Mater Dei Catholic in the first round of the CIF-SDS Division IV playoffs on Feb. 19. The Bishop’s School dropped a 60-48 decision to Army-Navy Academy on Feb. 11. Jywrell Wilson led the Knights with 15 points, and both Malik Love and Michael Eribez each scored 11.

The Knights lost to Horizon Christian, 69-65, on Feb. 15. Wilson scored 34 points in the defeat. Love scored 12. Bishop’s earned a first-round bye in the CIF-SDS Division IV playoffs and was scheduled to play in the quarterfinals on Feb. 22.

Girls basketball

La Jolla Country Day sailed to a 71-36 victory over Horizon Christian on Feb. 13. Janae Fulcher scored 18 points and had 19 rebounds. Lindsay Nettinga added 14 points, and Dominique Conners had a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

The Torreys finished their regular season with a 58-45 win over Francis Parker on Feb. 14. They finished at 20-5 and 8-0 in the Coastal League South, securing their eighth consecutive league title. The Torreys earned the top seed and a first-round bye in the CIF-SDS Division IV playoff, and were scheduled to open the postseason on Feb. 23.

The Bishop’s School rolled to a 77-52 victory over Horizon Christian on Feb. 15. Gizelle Studevent scored 21 points, Alissa Campanero added 15 and Elaina White totaled 13. Brianna Martinez scored 11 points, and Michelle Brunker scored 10.

The Knights finished the regular season with a 19-8 record and a 5-3 mark in Coastal League South play. They earned the No. 2 seed in the CIF-SDS Division IV playoffs and were scheduled to play either Imperial or Preuss in the quarterfinals on Feb. 23.

La Jolla High School suffered a 50-44 loss to Mira Mesa on Feb. 13.

The Vikings finished the season with a 39-30 defeat to Our Lady of Peace on Feb. 14. La Jolla ended with a 9-17 record and went 7-6 in the Western League. They were scheduled to visit El Capitan in the first round of the CIF-SDS Division III playoffs on Feb. 20.

Boys soccer

La Jolla Country Day secured a 3-0 win over Horizon Christian on Feb. 13, sparked by a pair of goals from Alex Poyhonen. Travis Golia notched the Torreys‚ other goal, and Zach Wolfenzon contributed two assists. Kyle Reese recorded the shutout in goal.

The Torreys followed up with a 6-1 win over Francis Parker on Feb. 15, securing a share of the Coastal League South title. Wolfenson scored twice, and Rodrigo Cuenca contributed a goal and two assists.

Country Day finished the season 19-2-3 with a 7-1 league mark. The Torreys were seeded second in the CIF-SDS D-IV playoffs, and were scheduled to open the postseason by hosting Horizon Christian on Feb. 20.

The Bishop’s School secured a 5-0 win over Horizon Christian on Feb. 14. The Knights finished the regular season 13-2-1 with a 7-1 record in the Coastal League South. They were scheduled to open the CIF-SDS Division IV playoffs by hosting Preuss on Feb. 20.

La Jolla High School was scheduled to visit Crawford in the first round of the CIF-SDS Division III playoffs on Feb. 20.

Girls soccer

La Jolla High School fell to Cathedral Catholic, 3-0, on Feb. 12. The Vikings kicked to a 1-1 tie with University City on Feb. 13. The Vikings earned the No. 2 seed and a bye in the first round of the CIF-SDS Division III playoffs. They were scheduled to play in the quarterfinals on Feb. 22.

La Jolla Country Day beat Horizon Christian, 1-0, on Feb. 12. The Torreys suffered a 5-0 defeat to Francis Parker on Feb. 14, finishing the regular season with a 10-8 record and a 3-5 Coastal League South mark. They were scheduled to host Tri-City Christian in the first round of the CIF-SDS Division IV playoffs on Feb. 19.

The Bishop’s School earned a 5-0 win over Scripps Ranch on Feb. 12.

The Knights beat Horizon Christian, 2-0, on Feb. 14. Kaylie Davidson and Lindsey Holman-Kelley each scored. Bishop’s finished the regular season with a 13-3-1 record and a 7-1 Coastal League South mark. The top seed in the CIF-SDS Division IV playoffs, they were scheduled to host High Tech in the first round on Feb. 19.

Girls water polo

La Jolla High School swam to a 12-2 win over Ramona in the first round of the CIF-SDS Division II playoffs on Feb. 13. They beat Valley Center, 6-4, in the quarterfinals on Feb. 16 and were scheduled to face Coronado in a home semifinal on Feb. 20.

The Bishop’s School eased past Valhalla, 18-1, on Feb. 14 in the first round of the CIF-SDS Division II playoffs. Dominique Sardo scored five goals and added five steals, while Sarah Presant and Stephanie Tecca each added three goals.

The Knights then beat El Capitan, 17-3, on Feb. 20. Sardo and Zinnea Alexander each scored six goals.

Bishop’s was to play University City in a Feb. 20 semifinal at La Jolla High School.
