Boys basketballThe Bishop’s School rolled to a 57-39 victory over city rival La Jolla Country Day on Feb. 6. Andrei Lucas led the way for the Knights, scoring 18 points, while David Stotlemyre and Jywrell Wilson each added 11.
La Jolla High School fell, 69-61, to St. Augustine on Feb. 6. The Vikings dropped a 60-52 decision to Scripps Ranch on Feb. 9. Peter Sefton led La Jolla with 17 points, and Andrew Heap added 10.
Girls basketballLa Jolla Country Day rolled to a 50-44 win over The Bishop’s School on Feb. 6. Jamesha Townsend recorded a double-double, scoring 11 points and adding 11 rebounds. Chelsea Burns also scored 11 points. For Bishop’s, Kathleen Roehrkasse scored 11 points and added 12 rebounds. Bianca Padilla was the only other Knights player to score in double figures. She had 13. Country Day eased to a 75-42 victory over Canyon Crest on Feb. 9, improving to 18-7 overall and 6-1 in Coastal League South play. Kiarra Stinson poured in 28 points in the win, and Conners added 15.
Bishop’s fell to Francis Parker, 67-54, on Feb. 9 despite Roehrkasse’s 23 points and 14 rebounds. Michelle Brunker and Padilla each scored 12 points in the defeat.
La Jolla High School dropped a 65-49 decision to Our Lady of Peace on Feb. 6. Alyssa Wilson scored 16 points, and Olivia Waldon added 14. On Feb. 9, the Vikings rebounded with a 40-30 win over Scripps Ranch. Wilson led the way with 18 points.
Boys soccerLa Jolla Country Day eased to a 10-0 win over Army-Navy on Feb. 5, behind a four-goal performance from Tim Sedwitz. Zach Wolfensen registered a hat trick, and Adam Saven, Adam Goodman and Bobby Whitney each scored goals. Whitney and Ben Fleischhacker split the shutout in goal, and Jake Eliasberg anchored a solid defensive effort. The Torreys fell, 4-1, to The Bishop’s School on Feb. 7. Darren Blake scored Country Day’s lone goal on a header off a Tim Sedwitz cross, but after Bishop’s went ahead midway through the second half, Country Day couldn’t make up the difference. On Feb. 9, the Torreys bounced back with a 3-1 victory over Canyon Crest. After falling behind, 1-0, and missing a handful of opportunities, Country Day tied the scored on an Alex Poyhonen goal and went ahead on a tally from Sedwitz. Saven added insurance with his early second-half goal. Kees Thompson, Colin Young and Zach Wolfensen tallied assists as the Torreys improved to 14-5-3 overall and 4-3 in Coastal League South play.
The Bishop’s School rolled to a 3-1 win over Calvin Christian on Feb. 5. Bishop’s secured a 1-0 win over Francis Parker on Feb. 9 to secure the Coastal League South championship. Will Peck scored for the Knights, and Pete Semmer recorded the shutout in goal. Peck, Zach Ostrup and Kevin Blau anchored the defense, while Ricardo Johnson, Fred Semmer and Tony Cairo played solid games in the midfield, coach Malcolm Tovey said.

The Bishop’s School beat Horizon Christian, 3-1, on Feb. 2. The Knights picked up a 1-0 victory over Francis Parker on Feb. 9 thanks to a goal from Frances Harvey and assisted by Laurel Casey. Hannah Brown and Gabi Quart split the shutout in goal.
Girls water poloThe Bishop’s School swam to three victories last week and secured the Western League championship. On Feb. 5, the Knights rolled to a 17-1 victory over Cathedral Catholic. Sarah Van Norman led the way with six goals, while Chelsea Smith-Carmichael and Dominique Sardo each added four. The Knights secured a 17-3 win over Scripps Ranch on Feb. 7. Van Norman totaled six goals, and Sardo scored four times and added six steals. Smith-Carmichael chipped in with three goals and four assists.
Bishop’s toppled La Jolla High School, 16-6, on Feb. 9. Van Norman scored six times and set a school record with 10 steals, Knights coach Doug Peabody said. Van Norman scored five times and drew five ejections.
Roller hockeyLa Jolla Country Day rolled to an 8-2 win over Castle Pines on Feb. 5. Oren Siegel and Chris Warren each registered a hat trick, while Nikil Nagaraj and Matt Mulligan each scored one goal. The Torreys fell to Hilltop, 14-2, on Feb. 7. Warren scored both goals, with assists by Mulligan, Alex Yanez and Rory Donovan.
