Boys basketball

La Jolla High School fell to Rancho Bernardo, 64-43, on Dec. 5. The Vikings continued their early-season struggles with a 60-57 defeat to Poway on Dec. 7.

The Bishop’s School fell to El Camino of Oceanside, 64-57, in the Eagle Vaquero tournament on Dec. 6. The Knights rebounded with a 85-71 tournament win over Mount Miguel of Spring Valley on Dec. 7. They kept things rolling in the tourney with a convincing 76-43 win over Vista on Dec. 8.

La Jolla Country Day beat Borrego Springs, 64-19, on Dec. 5 in the San Diego Small Schools tournament. The Torreys fell to Calvin Christian in a closer tournament game, 53-50, on Dec. 7.

Girls basketball

La Jolla High School lost, 45-41, to Mar Vista on Dec. 6. Amy Nawhaine led the Vikings with 15 points in the losing effort.

The Bishop’s School rolled to a 77-62 win over Serra on Dec. 3 in the Matador Classic.

The Knights continued to roll in the tournament with a 74-57 win over Helix on Dec. 4.

On Dec. 5, Bishop’s secured a 69-50 tourney win over Hilltop, thanks to 24 points from Brunker and 20 from Studevent. Martinez also added 10 rebounds.

Boys soccer

La Jolla High School beat University City, 2-0, in the Coronado tournament on Dec. 4. The Vikings later fell to San Ysidro, 1-0, in the division championship game on Dec. 6.

The Bishop’s School eased to an 8-0 victory over Southern California Yeshiva on Dec. 6, winning its season opener despite missing some key players who were still playing with the football team. La Jolla Country Day secured an early-season 2-0 win over Christian on Dec. 7.

Girls soccer

La Jolla High School got its season off on the right foot by winning the championship of the Barons Tournament with a perfect 5-0 record in the tourney.

The Vikings secured a 2-0 win over Mira Mesa on Dec. 3, thanks to goals from Callan Parra and Nihal Kayali. They toppled city rival La Jolla Country Day on Dec. 5, 4-1, with help from Brianna Chapman’s two-goal game.

In the semifinals on Dec. 8, La Jolla beat Mater Dei, 4-0. La Jolla captured the championship with a 3-0 win over University City on Dec. 8. La Jolla Country Day beat San Marcos, 1-0, in the Barons Tournament on Dec. 5. The Bishop’s School dropped a 3-1 game to Carlsbad in the Cathedral tournament on Dec. 7. The Knights fell to Cathedral, 2-0, on Dec. 8, also in the tournament.

Girls water polo

The Bishop’s School swam to a 16-3 win over Savannah in its first game of the Villa Park tournament on Dec. 6, paced by four goals from Dominique Sardo and three goals from Sammi Peck. Katie Vaughan, Lexi Bohlmeijer, Sarah Presant and Jessica Noel each added two goals.

Bishop’s topped Rosary of Anaheim, 11-7, in a tournament game played later in the day.

The Knights fell to Riverside Poly, 11-10, on Dec. 7 despite a seven-goal performance from Sardo and a nine-save game from goalie Julia Eichenfield.

On Dec. 8, Bishop’s fell to Palos Verdes, 6-5. The Knights later lost to El Toro, 7-5. La Jolla High School swam past Valley Center, 8-7, on Dec. 6.

Wrestling

La Jolla High School won a dual meet against San Diego High School on Dec. 5, securing a comfortable 48-36 victory.

Roller hockey

La Jolla Country Day fell to Rancho Bernardo, 25-5, on Dec. 5. The Torreys bounced back with a 12-3 victory over city rival La Jolla High School on Dec. 6. La Jolla High School fell, 18-1, to Poway on Dec. 6.
