Crews worked through the night to repair a water main that broke in Pacific Beach and caused a sinkhole, leaving some residents without water service Wednesday morning, police said.

The sinkhole near Beryl and Ingraham streets was reported at 8:22 p.m. Tuesday, according to San Diego police Sgt. David Jennings. Police immediately closed the intersection.

The broken main was repaired and the sinkhole filled in time for water service to be restored around 7 a.m.

A water main break also occurred in nearby Mission Beach Tuesday. The rupture on Mission Boulevard just south of Santa Clara Place was reported at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday and led to the closure of Mission Boulevard, police said.

The Mission Beach rupture had been expected to be fixed by 11 p.m. Tuesday, but repairs were completed early this morning, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.
