Walk to pass through La Jolla
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Pacific South Coast Chapter reports that more than 200 people have registered to walk 50 miles over three days, from Carlsbad’s Flower Fields to downtown San Diego, Sept. 24-26 at its ninth annual Southern California Challenge Walk MS.
The route on Day 2 will include several streets in La Jolla and a lunch stop, with food from Smoke House Grills BBQ and Event Catering Co., at La Jolla High School, 750 Nautilus St.
The three-day fundraiser, which has drawn as many as about 325 walkers in previous years, has a goal of raising $1.2 million for MS research and services for Southern Californians living with MS, a chronic, unpredictable and disabling disease of the central nervous system with no known cause, cure or prevention. Last year’s event featured 262 walkers who helped raise $867,000.
The minimum donation required to walk in the challenge is $2,500 per person. This includes overnight hotel accommodations, meals and entertainment. Registration at
