Vocational training program honored
The Scripps A-Visions Vocational Training Program for patients with mental illnesses received a 2010 Lilly Reintegration Award.
The award recognizes exceptional contributions and achievements in helping people battling serious mental illness to re-enter the community.
Patients in the Scripps program are those also in the Scripps Behavioral Health Outpatient Program. A-Visions was established in partnership with the San Diego chapter of the Mental Health Association in 2002.
The A-Visions program includes individual assessment, vocational training and vocational placement. The curriculum includes stress management, communication, grooming, interpersonal skills, customer service skills and refresher courses in general work ethics.
After satisfying 120 days of real time vocational training and successful completion of the program, members are considered for paid employment or volunteer opportunities at various Scripps facilities or with community business partners.
