View trash can art in La Jolla Village

The work of 11 artists joined the La Jolla street scene in August in an unusual form - on the sides of trash cans.

The original paintings are by artists from the La Jolla Art Association. Jade Schulz of Jade J. Schulz Violins, an active member of the La Jolla Town Council and La Jolla Art Association, organized the project.

The trash receptacles were power washed and painted by Egon Kafka of La Jolla Village Lodge in preparation for the artwork. Schulz prepared the boards for the artists and attached them to the receptacles after the paintings had been completed.

The volunteer “Trash Can” artists are Salli Sachse, Sharon Ford, Monica Cadish, Tony Cuban, Catherine MacDonald, David Ainsley, Pierce Harrah, Rodger Heglar, Catherine Grawin, Warren Stark and Amy Wells.
