Used car dealer to be sentenced in tax fraud case

A used car dealer who pleaded guilty to collecting more than $1 million by filing false state tax returns between 2003 and 2007 is scheduled to be sentenced in a downtown San Diego courtroom today.

Yousef Hoodneh, 61, faces four years and four months in prison.

Hoodneh pleaded guilty March 24 to 13 counts of state tax fraud and one count of grand theft. A charge of failing to file a 2005 state income tax return was dismissed.

Hoodneh was listed as the corporate officer of the Flamingo Car Group Inc. and Flamingo Automotive Inc. on Black Mountain Road in Miramar, according to the state Franchise Tax Board.
