UCSD reunites families treated at Infant Special Care Center
More than 1,500 people came together on Saturday for the “Little Grad” picnic, an annual event to celebrate the lives of the children who have “graduated” from UCSD Health System’s Infant Special Care Center.
The center specializes in treating newborns born prematurely, some weighing less than a pound, or with health problems that require hospitalization.
The picnic serves as a relaxing time to bring together moms, dads, kids and family to catch up on their children’s progress and reunite with the medical staff. The picnic a included a BBQ lunch, arts and crafts projects, visits with local firefighters and a performance by a local dance group.
