UCSD professor honored

Daniel Wulbert, a UCSD mathematics professor, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to conduct research and lecture in southwest India during the 2009-10 academic year, the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board has announced.

He will assist in developing a research and doctoral program in analysis at Mangalore University.

Wulbert has been provost of Revelle College since 2003, a post he will leave in July. He is internationally regarded for his publications in approximation theory, Banach space geometry and functional analysis. Previous awards include support from the National Science Foundation and the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

Wulbert received his master’s and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas, Austin, and taught at the University of Washington before joining the UCSD faculty in 1973.
