On July 11, a live Paper Theatre performance of “Cinderella” was held at the UCSD Arts Library, which is inside the Geisel Library.
The performance was held in conjunction with the “Paper Theatre” exhibit on display through July 29 in the library.
In the Victoria era, families would buy posters of theaters and actors in full costume, then cut and paste together a scale-model replica. A script was included in the poster kit so that families could mount their own theatrical productions on a tabletop in their home.
Last week’s performance was modeled after this Victorian-era practice.
