Two local Girl Scouts go for (and get) the gold
Two La Jollans are among the 56 women who earned the Girl Scout Gold Award this year. Third-generation Scout Natalie Goddard, a 2010 La Jolla High graduate, will study wildlife biology at UC Davis in the fall.
For her project, Natalie held a series of Irish dance, language and culture classes at Bird Rock Elementary School. She also conducted a similar workshop for Scouts during a weekend at Camp Whispering Oaks near Julian.
La Jolla High alumna Hillary Shipps completed her freshman year at Scripps College. Her project — educating more than 200 elementary and middle school students about water conservation — inspired her to major in environmental analysis.
