TOPSoccer’s Summer Fun Days to start
La Jolla TOPSoccer, run by La Jolla Youth Soccer, is starting its Summer Fun Days on June 19. The program runs from 2 to 3 p.m. every Saturday through Aug. 14 at Cliffridge Field.
The registration deadline is Friday. Fee is $50.
The program, part of US Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer), is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any young boy or girl who is mentally or physically challenged.
The league’s goal, according to its website, “is to foster the physical, mental and emotional growth of these young athletes through the sport of soccer.” This will be the fifth year for the program, which is available to athletes between the ages of 5 and 18 years old with a range of mental or physical challenges, including blind or visually impaired, autism, Down syndrome, mental retardation, cerebral palsy and all others.
Athletes are grouped based on ability, not age, and all activities will be designed based on the abilities of the athletes.
TOPSoccer also will hold a summer camp July 26-30 at Allen Field. Deadline for that is July 16.
The league is also looking for volunteers for the fun days and camp. For information, go to
