Todd Bloom selected as 2010 REBA recipient
Todd Bloom of the Prudential California Realty La Jolla office, has been selected as the 2010 recipient of the prestigious McNaught-Davis/Knox award for the La Jolla Brokers Association (REBA).
The award is given once each year to the REBA member who best reflects the characteristics of personal integrity, community activity, service to the real estate profession, salesmanship and co-operation with associates.
“Todd is a perfect choice for this award,” Rob Insinger, chairman of the award committee (and 1998 recipient), stated in a press release. “He is liked and respected by everyone in REBA and has been very involved in many community activities. But, most importantly, his professional reputation and ethics are superior.”
Bloom said in an interview with the Light that he felt the award was bestowed on him because of the way he cooperates with colleagues and because “I always go out of my way to help someone, even if it may not benefit me: People helping each other, that’s what it’s all about.”
He said receiving the award is special.
“It’s really nice to be recognized by your peers,” he said. “This award has been around since 1962, and to be recognized in the same breadth as a lot of other agents that have been before me … That the people I work with thought enough to recommend me — that means a lot.”
Karen Rockwell, REBA president, said all REBA members can be nominated.
“Each year there are a number of worthy candidates that are discussed before a nominee is selected, then approved by the Board of Directors. It would be very easy to give out this award to several REBA members each year since we have such a high caliber membership in our group.”
Bloom credited REBA for its supportive environment.
“The networking and the opportunities, the camaraderie we have every Wednesday morning at our meetings, I don’t think there’s another group like it: It’s a very special thing, kind of old school.”
REBA was organized in 1924, and the award originated in 1962.
