Toastmasters summer picnics at La Jolla Cove

The public is invited to two upcoming events sponsored by Toastmasters of La Jolla. Both will be held at La Jolla Cove.

The first is Sunday, Aug. 3 and the second is Sunday, Aug. 31. Both events are from noon to 5 p.m.

Attendees can chat with members of the local Toastmasters group in a casual setting.

Their white canopy will be set up (signs will be posted at the canopy). Refreshments will be provided.

The Cove of La Jolla also features live entertainment from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Cove on Aug. 3 featuring The Corvettes. At Toastmasters’ beach party on Aug. 31, the band The Heroes will perform.

The mission of the Toastmasters organization is to provide a mutually supportive positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

The La Jolla Toastmasters meet on Tuesdays at the La Jolla YMCA Firehouse, 7877 Herschel Ave., from 6:30 to 8:15 p.m.

The meetings are open to the public (age 18 years +) and visitors are always welcome. For more information go to their Web site
