Two La Jolla businesses were burglarized today but the thief left the loot two blocks away.

A security alarm notified San Diego police of a break-in at Tootsies Shoe Boutique on Girard Avenue near Pearl Street at 5:23 a.m. Officers discovered that the glass door had been smashed and the cash register had been stolen, Officer Frank Cali said.

They also came across a similar situation at Ogden’s One Hour Cleaners on the same block.

Two cash registers were found two blocks west near Fay Avenue.

The stores were empty during the burglary and no one was injured.
