Sustainable landscape lectures to be featured at Neurosciences Institute
The Oct. 7 session will feature Susan Van Atta, whose professional career and community participation reflect her concern for environmental quality and planning. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she founded her own firm in 1985. Since that time, she has dedicated herself to environmentally appropriate landscape design, habitat restoration and the use of native plants.
On Nov. 4, Ken Smith, a landscape architect who has worked on a wide variety of national and international projects in private and public practice, will speak. His background and training is in landscape architecture and the fine arts. He is committed to creating landscapes, especially parks and other public spaces, with vision and meaning as a way of improving the quality of urban life.
There will be a networking reception at 5:30 p.m. before each lecture, followed at 6:30 p.m. by the lectures and a question-and-answer session. Registration is $10 for students with ID, $12 for ASLA members and $14 for non-ASLA members. Registration is available at
