Suspects in Mission Beach surf shop robbery caught after pursuit
At least two people suspected of robbing a surf shop Thursday in Mission Beach and leading authorities on a pursuit that ended when their car overturned in Sherman Heights were taken into custody, police said.
The pursuit began about 11 a.m., when San Diego police robbery detectives spotted a white Lexus sedan matching the description of the getaway vehicle used by several men with guns who had held up a Mission Beach surf shop about a half-hour earlier, said SDPD Officer Brad Ruff.
During the brief chase, the suspects fled south on 25th Street, west on Market Street and east on G Street, and one of the suspects threw a gun out of the car, Ruff said.
The speeding driver lost control of the sedan in the 600 block of 24th Street. Following the crash, officers took at least two people into custody.
No serious injuries were reported.
