Supervisors approve Greg Cox as director of airport authority

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved the nomination of one of their own, Greg Cox, as a director of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority.

Cox, whose nomination for the county’s seat on Lindbergh Field’s governing board was approved as part of the consent agenda, was in favor of a proposition rejected by voters a few years ago to build a civilian airport at the Marine Corps station in Miramar.

The day he was nominated, Cox said that idea is now off the table, so his goal is to make the current airport as efficient as possible.

“I want to thank the chairman of the board for the nomination and the Board of Supervisors for their support,” Cox said.

Cox also sits on the executive committee of the California State Association of Counties.
