Students step out for disease

Jacob Steensma, a third-grader at The Gillispie School, formed Team Gillispie to walk in the recent Great Strides fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Jacob and his friends raised almost $800. He says he does it because his 8-year-old cousin Arianna has the disease. He wrote in an article in the school’s newsletter that ‘Ari looks great and does things that most of us kids do, but that is because she and her parents work very hard to keep her healthy. She does two hours of physical therapy each day and takes more pills than you can imagine.’
