Student essay contest has $100 awards
The De Anza Chapter of the National Society of the Daughter of the American Revolution (NSDAR) seeks entries for its American History Essay Contest 2010-11.
This year, students in grades 5-8 are invited write an essay on “The Memoirs of Paul Revere,” in celebration of the 235th anniversary of his midnight ride from Boston to Lexington. Students are to imagine they are the famous patriot writing his memoirs. This includes various accomplishments for which Paul Revere wishes to be remembered in the annals of American history.
The contest is co-chaired by members Debbie Giese and Joanne Dudek. Winner from each grade will receive a certificate, a medal, and a $100 cash award from the De Anza NSDAR Chapter, plus and an opportunity to advance in the state and national awards.
