Street cleanup in La Jolla set for Saturday

Share

Volunteers are being sought to clean up La Jolla’s streets Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

They should show up at Wall Street Post Office at the corner of Ivanhoe Avenue and Wall Street. La Jolla Town Council’s Nell Carpenter Beautification Streetscape Committee is sponsoring the effort.

“We are inviting high school-age boys and girls as well as committee members and anyone who is interesting in keeping the jewel clean,” said committee chair Esther Viti, who urged participants to bring gloves and hats for shade and to wear sun screen for their own protection.

“We will sweep the sidewalks, sweep the gutters, pick up the trash, clean the flower beds, as well as pull weeds,” said Viti. “We will furnish bags, pickers, gloves and whatever tools are needed to get the job done.”

Volunteers will be supplied with water and refreshments.
