Stabbing at UTC

According to the San Diego Police Department, Northern Division detectives are investigating the stabbing of a 24-year-old female that occurred on Sunday, Feb. 10 in the University Towne Center parking structure at about 4:30 p.m.

The victim, Elizabeth Clevenstine, parked her car and was approaching the mall when she realized she had forgotten some items in her trunk. She noticed a male standing nearby, and when she opened her trunk he came up behind her and grabbed her. The suspect tried to drag Clevenstine around to the driver’s side of her car. She fought with him, and he stabbed her with an unknown instrument. Lt. Mark Jones responded to the call and while checking the area, located a man who matched the description of the suspect. That suspect was detained and identified by the victim. He was arrested and identified as Gerardo S. Pascual, 42. He is currently being held in the San Diego Central Jail on the charge of attempted murder in the first degree (187 A PC).

Clevenstine received serious injuries and is currently hospitalized.
