Boys basketballLa Jolla High School picked up a 72-49 win over Mt. Miguel in the CIF San Diego Section Division III quarterfinals on Feb. 24. The Vikings were led by Andrew Heap’s 20-point effort. Igor Seriba added 16 points, while Jerrell Agnew added nine and Kevin Campbell had eight.
The Vikings were scheduled to host Western League rival Mission Bay in the semifinals on Feb. 28.
La Jolla Country Day opened the Division IV playoffs with a 56-28 victory over Preuss on Feb. 21.
The Bishop’s School secured a 76-43 win over Imperial in the first round of the Division IV playoffs on Feb. 21, behind David Stotlemyre’s 22 points and 15 from Jywrell Wilson. In the second round on Feb. 24, the Knights beat Country Day, 50-40.
Bishop’s was scheduled to host Horizon Christian in a Feb. 28 quarterfinal.
Girls basketballThe Bishop’s School rolled to a 78-35 victory over Preuss in the first round of the Division IV playoffs on Feb. 20. The Knight held just a two-point lead at halftime, but pulled away by outscoring their opponents, 28-10, in the second quarter and 18-2 in the third.
Michelle Brunker paced the team with a 27-point, 14-rebound effort, and Kathleen Roehrkasse contributed 22 points with 16 rebounds. Elaina White scored 13 points and had nine rebounds, and Bianca Padilla added 11 points and seven assists.
Bishop’s beat Horizon Christian, 60-48, in the second round on Feb. 23. Roehrkasse scored 26 points and had 12 rebounds, while Brunker scored 14 points and Padilla added 13.
La Jolla Country Day rolled to a 69-21 win over Coronado in the quarterfinals of the Division IV playoffs on Feb. 23. Dominique Conners paced the attack with 15 points, and freshman Chemayne Country Day and Bishop’s were scheduled to square off in a semifinals game on Feb. 27.
La Jolla High School fell to Kearney, 55-36, in a Division III first-round game on Feb. 20. The Vikings were outscored, 15-2, in the first quarter and never caught up.
Boys soccerLa Jolla Country Day School rolled through the first round of the Division IV playoffs with a 4-0 victory over Tri-City Christian on Feb. 20.
The Torreys continued to roll with a quarterfinals win over Holtville on Feb. 23, this one by a 2-1 margin. Country Day played from behind but tied the game late in the first half when Colin Young scored off an assist from Adam Saven.
The Torreys were scheduled to host Francis Parker in a semifinals game on Feb. 27.
The Bishop’s School earned a forfeit win in the first round of the Division IV playoffs over expected opponent Imperial. When the Knights got on the pitch in the quarterfinals on Feb. 23, they rolled past Canyon Crest Academy, 4-1. Will Peck scored twice for Bishop’s, while Tim Costello and Ricardo Johnson each added single goals.
The Knights were scheduled to visit Preuss for a semifinals game on Feb. 27.
La Jolla High School rolled to a 4-0 win over Brawley in its opening game of the Division III playoffs on Feb. 20. The Vikings’ playoff run ended with a 2-0 loss to Cathedral Catholic in the second round on Feb. 23.
Girls soccerThe Bishop’s School earned a forfeit win over expected opponent Calvin Christian in the first round of the Division IV playoffs on Feb. 21. The Knights had nearly as easy a time on the field in the 15-0 drubbing of River Valley in their Feb. 24 quarterfinals game.
Frances Harvey, Annie Kadota, Natalie Wheeler and Chelsea Wilkinson each scored twice in the win. Sarah Bromley, Kadota and Wheeler each had two assists, and Hannah Brown, Gabi Quart and Christie Rodriguez split the shutout in goal.
The Knights were scheduled to host Santa Fe Christian in the semifinals on Feb. 28.
La Jolla High School secured a 1-0 win over Mission Bay in a Division III first-round game on Feb. 21. Nihal Kayali scored the game’s lone goal, and Alysia Barone recorded the shutout in goal.
The Vikings’ playoff run came to an end in the quarterfinals, as they fell, 1-0, to Valhalla on Feb. 24. Barone, Simi Sharp, Tess Plant-Thomas and Alix Foster all played well, coach Krsitin Jones said.
