Soroptimist 2010 honorees named

Soroptimist International of La Jolla will honor Nicole Ouellette as its 2010 Violet Richardson Award winner in recognition of her service to My Girlfriend’s Closet. Ouellette, a senior at La Jolla Country Day School, will receive a $600 cash award and an additional $300 will be given to My Girlfriend’s Closet at a March 20 luncheon.

In addition, the club will recognize winners of its other two major award programs. Thuy Pham and Carrie Stokes will receive the 2010 Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Award to use for tuition, books, childcare, car fare or other education-related expenses. Karen Cebreros will receive the 2010 Soroptimist Ruby Award. Cebreros is the founder and CEO of Elan Organic Coffees, and is recognized as a pioneer in the global certified organic and sustainability movements.
