Soccer clubs merge
The FC Bratz, the only all-girls soccer club in San Diego, recently announced that it has merged with the Nomads Soccer Club, club officials announced Feb. 24.
“When you’re in business as long as we’ve been, there’s always a need to change,” Nomads SC Technical Director Derek Armstrong stated in a news release. “As we plan for our club’s future, we think there’s a definite need for a broader base. We’re far too small at this point in time. This strategic alliance with FC Bratz is the first step of that development plan.”
The move will bring the Bratz organization — including Jerzy Szyndlar, Derek Armstrong and Brian McManus — and its players under the Nomads banner. It will be effective at the end of the season.
The Nomads SC is now part of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, a program that features teams from the top youth clubs from around the country.
