Small quake hits near Escondido

A 3.0-magnitude earthquake rattled San Diego County early Wednesday but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The temblor struck at 2:05 a.m., its epicenter 12 miles east-northeast of Escondido and 41 miles northeast of San Diego, the U.S. Geological Survey reported on its Web site.
