Serious vehicle injury accidents

Over the weekend, two serious injury accidents took place in La Jolla.

On May 31, in the area of 1600 Nautilus St., a 55-year-old female motorist was driving west when she drifted to the right and struck an unoccupied parked car. The motorist was transported to a hospital with serious head injuries. According to a police report, alcohol appears to be a factor.

On June 2, in the area of 5400 La Jolla Blvd. around 1 a.m., 44-year-old male motorcyclist driving south, failed to negotiate the traffic roundabout. According to a police report, he drove up onto the center portion of the roundabout, lost control and then drove off the right side of the roadway striking a pole. The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital with critical internal injuries. The driver faces charges of DUI.

The San Diego Police’s Traffic Division is investigating both incidents.
