Senior accepted at conservatory
Lauren Gay Hunter, a senior at La Jolla High School, has been accepted at Boston Conservatory, an internationally acclaimed music and performing arts college in Boston, Mass. With a view toward a career on Broadway, Hunter will be majoring in musical theater, a program that selects less than 7 percent of those who apply.
Hunter studied at the Boston Conservatory last summer and has also studied at the Stage Door Manor in New York, UCLA and La Jolla Playhouse. She has been featured as an “Actor in the Spotlight” by San Diego Theater Scene and is the recipient of a Patte Award for theater excellence.
Hunter has appeared in productions including “The Wiz,” “Children of Eden,” “The Secret Garden,” “Les Miserables,” “Jekyll and Hyde,” “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” “Oliver,” “It’s a Wonderful Life,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “Cinderella.” She will be performing this summer in the CYC production of “Rent,” which will open at the Lyceum Theater on June 15 and run through July 5.
Hunter is the daughter of Gloria Stout and Mike Gay, also a graduate of LJHS.
