SDSU athletics gets pledge of $2 million

A San Diego State University alumnus has pledged $2 million to the school’s athletic programs, it was announced Monday.

The gift from the estate of Frank Cuenca will support the SDSU Athletic Department, which has an annual scholarship commitment of $6 million, according to the university.

Cuenca, a Point Loma resident who graduated from SDSU in 1971, is a general partner at Monarch Retirement Group. He is an Aztecs football booster and has been a season ticket holder for 40 years.
