SD Humane Society, SPCA get $1 million grant from Petco
The San Diego Humane Society and SPCA was awarded a $1 million grant from the Petco Foundation for its animal care work, it was announced Monday.
The five-year grant will be used to fund animal welfare programs, pet adoption services and animal rescue work at the Humane Society’s three campuses in San Diego and the North County, according to the Humane Society.
San Diego-based Petco operates more than 1,000 pet supply retail stores in the country. Its foundation previously gave the local Humane Society a $1 million grant in 2004.
In recognition of the recent grant, the San Diego Humane Society will honor Petco and the Petco Foundation at its annual telethon, Walk for Animals and Fur Ball gala.
A dog park at the Humane Society’s campus in Oceanside will also be named “Petco Foundation Dog Park,” according to the Humane Society.
