Scripps honors Anita Figueredo

La Jolla physician, surgeon and community leader Anita V. Figueredo, M.D., was honored during Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Health Foundation’s Ninth Annual Friends of the Hospital luncheon in January.

She was recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her lifelong commitment to providing exceptional medical care and unyielding dedication to charitable causes and services for the less fortunate, a press release stated.

Figueredo, a surgical oncologist, was the first female surgeon in San Diego and has been practicing medicine in La Jolla since 1947.
