Scripps Health acquires Del Mar Medical Clinic
Scripps Health announced Friday that Del Mar Medical Clinic is joining Scripps Coastal Medical Center. The transition between the two medical groups will be effective no later than Sept. 1, 2010.
The five Del Mar primary care physicians will join Scripps Coastal Medical Group, the physician practice working within Scripps Coastal Medical Center. Scripps Health has acquired the assets of Del Mar Medical Clinic, currently located at 1335 Camino del Mar in Del Mar, and its 16 employees will be employed by Scripps Health.
“The addition of this well-established group to Scripps Coastal Medical Center strengthens the primary care physician base for all Scripps affiliated physicians,” said Kevin Hirsch, M.D., president of Scripps Coastal Medical Group. “For the current patients of Del Mar Medical Group, it will remain business as usual and their personal physician will continue to coordinate their medical needs during the transition and beyond.”
The physicians of Del Mar Medical Clinic have long-established relationships with Scripps Health and many of the specialists are practicing at both Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla and Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas.
Scripps Coastal Medical Center Del Mar will be the tenth Scripps Coastal location in San Diego County. With more than 100 physicians and offices from Oceanside to Eastlake, Scripps Coastal Medical Center has a long-standing reputation for excellence in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics.
“As we move to a new era in medicine with health care reform, it is more important than ever to work closely with our primary care physicians to meet their practice needs and support the work of our specialty physicians,” said Dr. Hirsch. “In their commitment to provide the best care for their patients, the physicians of Del Mar Medical Clinic will now have access to the entire Scripps Health network to provide optimum care for their patients.”
