Scripps Cancer Center hosts true Italian dinner and auction

The Stevens Division of Scripps Cancer Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla threw a party that was definitely “A Toast to Life.” Held at the Hyatt Regency, La Jolla, the festive dinner and live auction took its Italian theme from the hills and valleys of Tuscany. As a result, the dinner and the magnificent mural behind the stage reflected the rustic Tuscan countryside.

It was the 16th annual spin-off auction, and this year’s gala honored the Dunn Family for their support, dedication, and leadership to Scripps over the past 25 years. The 90-year-old matriarch of the family (Pearl Dunn) was treated at Scripps Memorial and has remained cancer-free for 10 years. Proceeds from this dinner and auction will be used to benefit cancer prevention, early detection, education, patient support services, and clinical research programs.

Jane Marshall and Bobbi Martini co-chaired the evening, with a large committee that included Arlene Lieberman, Reina Mooney, Monica Urban, and Robbin Cafagna. Among the many local supporters in attendance were John and Toni Bloomberg, Ruth and Paul Jacobowitz, Danielle and Brian Miller, Jan Davis and Ben Schulman, Eve and Gary Fybel ( CEO of Scripps Memorial), Marina and Brad Brenner, Patsy and David Marino, James Sinclair (Medical Director of Scripps Cancer Center, Stevens Division), and Jen and Mike Carroll.
