San Diego Jewish Academy student a Bronfman Fellow

Kevin Yedid Botton, son of Jose and Jessica Lombrozo of La Jolla and a junior at San Diego Jewish Academy, was selected by The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel as one of 26 Bronfman Fellows.

As a sophomore, Kevin joined the Maimonides After School Program for Creative Writing, and also became a contributor to the school’s newspaper, writing in Spanish and English. Currently, Kevin is the copy editor of the newspaper. He was also one of four captains of the football team.

During the fellowship, he and the other students will participate in an intensive five-week program of study and travel in Israel designed to develop future community leaders committed to Jewish unity. The program is funded by The Samuel Bronfman Foundation (TSBF).

Traveling throughout Israel, the fellows participate in seminars and discussions with diverse rabbinic faculty. Fellows also spend a week with a group of Israeli peers who have been chosen through a parallel selection process as part of the Israeli Youth Fellowship. The fellows are then asked to devise and lead Jewish community or social action projects upon returning home after the summer.
