San Diego Coastkeeper leader to step down
By City News ServiceThe executive director of San Diego Coastkeeper will step down after 11 years as the head of the environmental organization, it was announced Friday.
While Bruce Reznik will no longer be executive director of Coastkeeper, he will still have an active role in advocating for the organization, which works to protect inland and coastal waters, officials with the group said.
“It’s time for me to pursue the next chapter in my professional career,” Reznik said in a statement. “I look forward to San Diego Coastkeeper continuing its legacy as an environmental powerhouse in the region.”
Reznik joined Coastkeeper as executive director in 1999. Since then, he has championed efforts to reduce sewage spills in San Diego, led clean ups of waterways and lobbied for better water-quality monitoring.
Gabriel Solmer, the legal director for Coastkeeper, will be acting executive director while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement, officials said.
