Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary recognizes outstanding women

The Salvation Army’s Women’s Auxiliary of San Diego recognizes outstanding achievements from local women at a luncheon every Spring. The 42 nd annual event, held at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, set a new attendance record -- with upwards of 1,000 supporters on hand. As usual, this year’s crop of special ladies included several La Jollans. Among them were Elizabeth Copley, Sheila Lipinsky, Lisa Barkett and Karen Bowden.

The honorees joined an impressive list of community-minded women, such as Rusti Bartell, Marilynn Boesky, Ruth Grobstein, Doris Howell, Joan Jacobs, Jeanne Jones, Lael Kovtun, Nancy Kronemyer, Anne Ratner, Susie Spanos, Sally Thornton, Kristi Pieper, Jan Fitzpatrick and Elaine Galinson - who have made the La Jolla community justifiably proud.

According to tradition, each of these “Angels Among Us,” was ushered down the runway while the huge crowd applauded their tireless efforts on behalf of local charities and arts organizations.

The La Jolla cheering section also included Merle Lotherington, Pat Clark, Mary Johnson (Auxiliary President), Andrea Schmidt, RoseMary Taylor, Mary Walker, Cynthia Kronemyer and Carol Karlovich.
