Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary honors supporters

A record crowd of close to 1,000 supporters paid homage to this year’s crop of Women of Dedication - a hand-picked group of outstanding women honored by The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of San Diego County. Among the La Jolla ladies singled out for this special recognition, were Elizabeth Bergan, Merle Lotherington and Pat Whalen.

La Jolla’s own Mary Johnson, president of the Women’s Auxiliary, was lauded for her tireless work with the organization, and Lt. Col. Doug O’Brien presented her with a huge bouquet of flowers for her efforts. She will be succeeded in the office by another La Jollan, Cynthia Kronemyer.

After boutique shopping and a delightful lunch at the Manchester Grand Hyatt, members of the class of 2008 were escorted down the runway, while some of their accomplishments were announced to the audience. It was a moving tribute to some of the city’s leading movers and shakers.

The large local crowd included Olivia Rotert, Joani Alpert, Marilyn Barrett, Marie Chemali, Sima Foroozan, Charlotte Jacobs, Nancy Kronemyer, Cindy Peterson, Kristi Pieper, Dolores Smith, Mary Walker, Maree Mossmer, Stephanie Noon, Heather Ravenscroft, Alice Johnson and Cristull Hasson.
