Salk celebrates Concert Under the Stars

From the rare August windstorm that blew over the symphony’s band shell, emerged a beautiful summer evening for listening to music at the Salk Institute during its annual Concert under the Stars. The elegant courtyard designed by noted architect Louis Kahn provided a stunning backdrop for the elegant dinner and serene sounds of the San Diego Symphony.

Guests dined on a pre-concert picnic of pepper crusted beef filet and smoked prawns prepared by Jeffrey Strauss of Pamplemousse Grill in Del Mar. Bernadette Peters, with her blazing red hair, in a figure-hugging sparkling gown, captivated the audience when she shimmied up onto the piano to belt out “You Give Me Fever.”
