Rotary clubs busy with events for youths

  • Three La Jolla High School students recently presented their entries in the Rotary’s Four-Way Test Speech Contest to members of the Rotary Club of La Jolla.

Following their March 10 presentations, Roger Li was declared the winner for his speech, using education to portray the Rotarians test of the things they think, say and do, said Bill Burch, contest chairman and president-elect.
Second place went to Lilly Sedaghat, who applied the test to prejudice, and third to Karen He, who used volunteerism to talk about it.

Li and Sedaghat will advance to the regional semifinals.

  • Local Rotary clubs are looking for students to their first-ever “Interact Club - Service Above Self” Video Contest.

Winning students receive cash awards up to $500.
