Rigoberto’s takes over Taco Bell’s La Jolla spot

Those craving Mexican fast-food in La Jolla are no longer thinking outside the bun.

They’re reading between the red- and yellow-striped lines of Rigoberto’s Taco Shop, a new chain restaurant that replaced Taco Bell, the community’s last drive-thru restaurant, at 7345 La Jolla Blvd.

An institution in La Jolla since opening in 1966, Taco Bell closed Dec. 24, noting its lease had run out and the outlet’s profitability had been break-even for years.

The management at the recently opened Rigoberto’s could not be reached for comment.
