Rescuers search cove after report

San Diego lifeguards searched on Monday, Aug. 30 off La Jolla Cove after they received reports that someone saw a child’s legs in the water.

Lifeguard Lt. Greg Buchanan said it wasn’t immediately clear if the witness, who called around 11:45 a.m., saw one or two children in the water.

When an initial search of the water came up empty, lifeguard divers were called to the area, he said.
