Ralphs supermarket in the La Jolla Village Square Shopping Center marked its grand reopening as Ralph Fresh Fare on July 15 with speeches and a ribbon-cutting.
After five months of extensive remodeling, the store includes Ralphs first “Kosher Experience” - a store within a store that includes a full-service deli, meat and seafood department, frozen foods and nonperishable kosher foods. Following Jewish tradition, the “Experience” is supervised by a mashgiach, who is responsible for making sure kosher dietary laws are followed.
During the event, store officials presented $110,000 to Feeding America San Diego, which was raised during Ralphs’ Bringing Hope to the Table campaign.
It will be used for hunger education and awareness and to buy food for Feeding America San Diego’s Weekend Wellness Backpack Program, which provides food to children and their families on weekends during the school year.
They also presented donations to San Diego Coastkeeper and the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center.
