San Diego should get a chance to dry out today before getting hit with another storm set to arrive Wednesday.

Winter arrived Monday with showers that left behind less than a half- inch of rain in most areas, according to the National Weather Service. The snow level was around 6,000 feet.

A more powerful storm, which could produce an inch or more of rain, is due to arrive Wednesday afternoon and continue into Christmas Day.

Monday’s showers aggravated traffic problems, with 131 accidents being reported between midnight and 7 p.m. on San Diego County roads patrolled by the California Highway Patrol.

During dry weather, the CHP typically responds to 50-75 crashes during a 24-hour period.
