A 4.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the Baja California shore Monday morning and was felt in San Diego County.
The temblor hit at 6:19 a.m., its epicenter 41 miles south-southwest of Imperial Beach and 42 miles southwest of Tijuana, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
“We felt it pretty good here but so far the phones have been quiet,” said San Diego County sheriff’s Lt. Hope Andrews, speaking from Kearny Mesa. “There’s been no injury and no damage reports.”
A 3.6-magnitude aftershock centered about a mile from the site of the first temblor occurred at 6:43 a.m., the USGS reported.
