Press Club honors Light Web site
The Light’s Web site,
www.lajollalight.com, brought home a second place for Overall News Web Site, in the recent San Diego Press Club competition.
Launched last spring, the site brings readers everything that’s in the weekly La Jolla Light and more, from additional photos to breaking news each day. Amy Lynne Bowes, the online content manager was recognized for her work that put the Light just behind the Union-Tribune’s SignonSanDiego site.
“It’s an honor to be recognized by our peers for the hard work that’s gone into making lajollalight.com the success it’s been,” said Publisher Phyllis Pfeiffer. “It also provides us with incentive to make it even better.”
Reporter Laura Petersen of the Light’s sister paper, the Solana Beach Sun, took top Press Club honors in the Science/Technology category for Non-Daily Newspapers with her story “Local Rocket Science Goes for the Moon.”
Also, the California Newspaper Publisher’s Association honored the Rancho Santa Fe Record with a first place in Local News Coverage in the category for weekly newspapers with circulation of 4,301 to 11,000 for reporting on the 2007 wildfires that struck the area.
